Old Legends, New Mythologies brings together the storyteller Ervin Qafmolla and the musician Elinor Butka with Art Drone Projects (Dionisis Christofilogiannis & Charalampos Papadopoulos) in a project curated by Elian Stefa which combines research into the folklore of the Bay of Vlora, with precision drone flights, long aperture photography, and mythological metaphors. The exhibition, which opened initially at Galeria e Bregdetit in September of 2022, and this accompanying publication present an anthology of fragments from an autochthonous cosmology focusing on the Island of Sazan and the Bay of Vlora. These are stories which find their roots as much in old histories of the region as in last week’s hearsay —spanning from factual truth to dreamlike delirium throughout the narrative— as is modus operandi in good myth-telling.

Legjenda të Vjetra, Mitologji të Reja bashkon tregimtarin Ervin Qafmolla dhe muzikantin Elinor Butka me Art Drone Projects (Dionisis Christofilogiannis & Charalampos Papadopoulos) në një projekt të kuruar nga Elian Stefa, që ndërthur hulumtimin në folklorin e Gjirit të Vlorës, së bashku me metafora mitologjike, me fluturimet e përpikta me dron, dhe fotografinë me ekspozim të gjatë. Projekti përbehet nga një koleksion veprash që u ekspozuan për herë të parë tek Galeria e Bregdetit në Shtator të 2022, si dhe nga ky publikim. Këto element së bashku paraqesin një antologji fragmentesh nga një kozmologji autoktone, me ishullin e Sazanit dhe gjirin e Vlorës në fokus. Këto tregime i gjejnë rrënjët e tyre sa prej lashtësisë së rajonit; po aq edhe në thashethemet e javës së shkuar; duke u shtrirë nga e vërteta faktike deri te deliri ëndërrimtar përgjatë rrëfimit; siç është edhe karakteristike në shtjellimin e duhur të miteve.
